Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a device and a method which can manufacture an absorbent product having a first layer formed of a first material and a second layer composed of a mixture of first and second materials. CONSTITUTION: A first material such as absorptive fluff obtained from wood pulp is introduced into a vacuum chamber. A part of the introduced fluff is deposited into the cavity of a mold to move in the chamber by a wheel, and forms a pure fluff layer in a bottom part of a cavity. A second material such as an ultra absorbent particle and thermally stabilized fiber is introduced into the chamber so that flows of the first and the second materials collide with each other in a mixing zone. In the middle when the mold moves in the chamber, a mixture of the first and the second materials generated in the mixing zone sticks to a cavity of the mold, and fills up this. A part of the mixture accumulated higher than the uppermost surface of the mold is rubbed off by a scarfing brush to resend the mixture to the mixing zone, and an agitating flow to make sufficient mixing of the two materials is formed.
