Abstract:
The subject of the invention is a hydropneumatic suspension strut for a motor vehicle, comprising, articulated on a wheel support arm, a cylinder (2), on which slides a piston (6) which is articulated on the structure of the vehicle (21) and the rod (7) of which is equipped with an axial bore (17) connected hydraulically to a hydropneumatic accumulator (18), the strut possessing, incorporated in the cylinder (2), hydraulic engagement stop means (25, 29).
According to the invention, the strut possesses, fixed to the bottom of the cylinder (2), a needle (29), on which a floating valve (25) retained in a chamber (22) within the piston (6) can engage so as progressively to throttle the flow of the liquid towards the accumulator (18).
