PURPOSE: To manufacture continuously a tapered rod with a high accuracy by selecting a temperature of a metallic material between heating and cooling, an outside diameter of the metallic material after deformation, and a speed of the metallic material before and after heating and cooling, respectively, and controlling the heating and a speed change.
CONSTITUTION: A metallic material 1 is fed to a heating device through a measuring meter 5 from a constant-speed feed roller and heated by a high frequency. Subsequently, it is fed to a cooling device and cooled by spraying a refrigerant from a nozzle 10, fed to a speed change tension roller 16 through a measuring meter 5' and brought to a speed change control, and fed to a tempering furnace 20 through a wire diameter measuring instrument 19. In this case, between the heating device 6 and the cooling device 9, a temperature of the metallic material is measured by a thermometer 22, it is fed to a temperature control device 23, and a high frequency oscillator 8 is controlled so that the temperature becomes constant. Also, a running speed measured by the measuring meters 5, 5' and an outside diameter measured by the wire diameter measuring instrument 19 are sent to a speed control device 21, and a speed control of the speed change tension roller 16 is executed through a DC motor 17.
