PURPOSE: To perform automatic switching, by controlling the power supply of a main body to turn-on and -off with loading/unloading of a holder, in a tape recorder supporting the holder loading a lot of holders slidably upper and lower surfaces of a panel.

CONSTITUTION: A holder 10 having flanges 10a and 10b latched with guide grooves 9a and 9b positioned to the front panel of a tape recorder at the back side and loading cassettes 11a to parts sectioned upper and lower with partition plates, is freely slidably latched and only a cassette at a position coincident with a cassette loading chamber is loaded for playing at random. When the latched part of the holder is loaded to the latch part of a tape recorder main body, the power supply is turned on and when unloaded, the power supply is turned off. Thus, the cassette holder can be separated from the main body and the cassette can be selected at random and also automatic switchin can be performed.
