PURPOSE: To make a upper die always execute an up-and-down reciprocating motion, and to raise the working efficiency, by fitting an elastic member whose elastic energizing force is large, and an elastic member whose elastic energizing force is weak, to an upper die side and a lower die side, respectively, and extending a horizontal operation available time for pulling-back.

CONSTITUTION: A strong elastic member 22 and a weak elastic member 14 are fitted to a upper die 1 side and a lower die 2 side, respectively. A work 6 is fed in between die parts 3, 4 by a feed bar 5, the upper die 1 is lowered, a lower elastic member 14 is compressed by a depressing body 21, the feed bar 5 and the work 6 are lowered, and the work 6 is placed on the lower die part 4. When the upper die 1 is further lowered, a projecting part of the feed bar 5 is detached from the work 6, the feed bar 5 becomes capable of executing a pulling-back horizontal operation, the left and right ends of a supporting member 13 are made to abut on a cylindrical body 16, and press working of the work 6 is executed. During this time, the feed bar 5 is pulled back, and while the upper die 1 is lifted, the following work 6 is inserted by the feed bar 5.
