PURPOSE: To transmit only the effective information and at the same time to produce a receiving picture approximately equal to a transmitting original at the receiving side, by transmitting the information required at the receiving side after coding it.
CONSTITUTION: A data transmitter of the transmitting side contains a format discriminating part 15. The read data 16 delivered from plural photosensors are supplied to a data buffer 151, and the buffer 151 delivers a parallel signal 17 in accordance with the form of a card discriminating mark. The signal 17 is decoded by a decoder 152, and a format display signal 18 showing a prescribed format is produced. This signal 18 is sent to a transmitter of the receiving side by a parallel-serial converter 153 in the form of a serial format display signal 19. In the same way, the read data equivalent to one line is also sent to the transmitter of the receiver side as a serial code data. The transmitter of the receiving side decodes both the read data and the format from the received code data and obtains a receiving picture corresponding to a transmitting original.
