PURPOSE: To obtain the titled alloy having superior wear resistance and machinability and producing shavings with high processability during cutting by adding specified amounts of Cu, Mn, Fe, Ni, Pb and Sn to Al, controlling the amount of Mg, and adding restricted amounts of Zn, Si, Cr, Zr, Bi, Ti and B.
CONSTITUTION: This alloy consists of, by weight, 4W10% Cu, 0.3W1.7% Mn, 0.2 W1.5% Fe, 0.5W3.0% Ni, 0.1W1.5% Pb, 0.1W2.0% Sn, ≤0.7% Mg, one or more among ≤3.0% Zn, ≤3.0% Si, ≤0.3% Cr, ≤0.3% Zr and ≤1.0% Bi, ≤0.3% Ti and/or ≤0.1% B and the balance Al. The alloy is comparable to 2218 alloy in strength and forgeability and is superior to it in wear resistance. The alloy produces shavings with high processability during cutting, forms no burrs during piercing, and has extremely superior machinability.
