PURPOSE: To obtain a small-sized, thin active matrix panel by arranging driving curcuits consisting of thin-film transistor (TR) array and thin-film TRs at the intersections of gate lines and data lines.

CONSTITUTION: The number of the gate lines G1, G2...GM is M and the number of the data lines D1, D2...DN is also M. Picture elements 201W204, etc., are composed of a thin film TR251, liquid crystal 252, etc., and those picture elements are arrayed in a matrix to from a display part 205. Driving circuits 206 and 207 are formed on an active matrix substrate 208. Thus, the driving circuits are incorporated as thin-film integrated circuits in the active matrix substrate to obtain the small-sized, thin, and inexpensive active matrix panel incorporating the driving circuits.
