Title:
FUEL CELL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5823166
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To uniformly impregnate a liquid electrolyte into a matrix from both sides and hold it and to prevent leaking out of the electrolyte to an electrolyte path by horizontally placing each component and vertically stacking it and installing an electrolyte reservoir in both sides.

CONSTITUTION: A liquid electrolyte is poured from an electrolyte path 5, and is impregnated to an electrolyte holding mass 13 in an electrolyte reservoir 16 of a fuel cell 4a through a side groove 11 which is installed between a matrix 3 and a dam 12. Because a cut-out hole 14 is installed in the same place of a fuel electrode 1 as the electrolyte reservoir 16, the electrolyte holding mass 13 is in contact with the matrix 3, therefore, the electrolyte is impregnaged into the matrix 3 from the electrolyte holding mass 13. Since the electrolyte reservoir is set up at both ends of a fuel electrode gas separating plate 4a, the electrolyte can be uniformly impregnated into the matrix 3 from both ends. Because the dam 12 is installed in the place leading to the electrolyte path 5, the electrolyte leakage to the electrolyte path 5 can be prevented.
