PURPOSE: To utilize adsorptivity of an adsorption element effectively by arranging vertically a cylindrical adsorption element comprising fibrous active carbon and providing an ejecting port of steam to the side wall of the bottom part in the adsorption element to reduce the water content of the adsorption element in the desorption stage.
CONSTITUTION: A cylindrical adsorption element 1 comprising fibrous active carbon is arranged vertically to a kettle body 2 provided with a feed port 8' of gas to be treated, discharge port 9' of purified gas, ejecting port 4 of steam for desorption, and a discharge port 5 of steam contg. desorbed gas, each provided with a valve mechanism wherein the ejecting port 4 of steam is directed toward the side wall of the bottom part in the adsorption element 1. By this construction, the water content of the adsorption element 1 can be reduced and the adsorptivity of the adsorption element 1 is utilized effectively.
