Abstract:
PURPOSE: To control tissue destruction depth and at the same time, make the depth extremely small, by forming an elongated flexible plastic tube having a single or a double lumen, and a segment having flexibility and conductivity, respectively near its distal end. CONSTITUTION: An incising device 10 has an elongated and flexible plastic tube 12 having a single or a double lumen, and a segment 20 having both of flexibility and conductivity is formed at a position near its distal end 16. The segment 20 is connected to a terminal at the proximal end of the device 10 connected to an electric surgical generator via a wire 24 extended through the lumen 18. A wire 26 movable along a lengthwise direction runs through the lumen 18 and is connected to a finger-operated slider mechanism 36 at the proximal end 14 thereof. The distal end of the wire 26 runs through a small hole 28 in the tube 12 and is hooked to the far region of the flexible and conductive segment 20. When a tensile force is applied to the wire 26, the distal end part 16 of an instrument is bent and the wire 26 forms as operating electrode. At the same time, the flexible conductive segment 20 acts as a return electrode.
