Abstract:

PURPOSE: To permit a proper amount of air always to be fed irrespective of the model of an engine by controlling the ON/OFF-valve in the branched passage which connects the inlet passage part to the swirl terminating part of the captioned port through a pressure control valve according to the magnitude of the exhaust pressure in the exhaust system.

CONSTITUTION: The inport passage part A in a helical-type intake port 6 and the terminating part of the swirl part B which is formed around an intake valve and connected to the intake passage part A are connected together through the branched part 14, which is opened and closed by a rotary valve 18. The valve shaft of the rotary valve 18 is connected to an actuator 26 through an arm 22, rod 25 etc., and the actuator 26 is controlled by the exhaust pressure. In other words, the intake negative pressure in an intake manifold 23 is introduced into the diaphragm chamber 30 of the actuator 26 through a conduit 35, throttle 34, pressure control valve 36, and a conduit 46, and the pressure control valve 36 introduces the exhaust pressure in an exhaust manifold 24 into an exhaust pressure chamber 38 through a conduit 41, and thus control of air amount by the exhaust pressure is enabled.
