Abstract:
PURPOSE: To control the quantity of the inverse flow of blood while using a device for use with a catheter by setting the inside diameter of a sleeve complementary to the outside diameter of the catheter. CONSTITUTION: A device for use with a catheter 1 incorporates a sleeve 21 for an assembly on the shaft of the catheter 1 between the shaft of the catheter 1 and Tuohy Borst connector. The inside diameter of the sleeve 21 is set to complementary to the outside diameter of the catcher 1 so that the catheter 1 is movable inside the sleeve. The outside diameter of the sleeve 21 is so set that, when the Tuohy Borst connector is closed, a seal is formed between the sleeve 21 and the connector. A flange 22 is provided in one end of the device to be connected with the connector so that the sleeve 21 is prevented from moving along with the catheter 1. The inside diameter of the sleeve 21 is complementary to the outside diameter of the catheter 1 so as to provide a ring space around the circumference of the catheter 1 and control the quantity of the blood flowing inverse while using the catheter.
