Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make a high-sensitivity fluorescent immunoassay by using this optical fiber with the transmission loss reduced and capable of keeping the light transmittance at 100%. CONSTITUTION:A formyl group is introduced into the core surface of a resin optical fiber. In this case, the optical fiber is allowed to react with a compd. expressed by OHC-R-CH(OH)-CHR'OH (where R is a single bond or a 1-6C alkylene groups, and R' is hydrogen atom or a 1-6C alkyl) to introduce a vic-diol group shown by -R-CH(OH)-CHR'OH on the core surface of the optical fiber, and then the compd. is oxidized to produce the optical fiber into which the formyl group is introduced. Accordingly, the cloudiness of the core surface due to the excessive polymerization of a dialdehyde as in the conventional process is prevented.
