PURPOSE: To readily and stably cut an optical fiber even by an inexperienced person.
CONSTITUTION: In an optical fiber cutter, the clad part of an optical fiber terminal is fixed to a clad-removed bared fiber part, and a blade is slided between them to cut the bared optical fiber part. A clamp base 1 for fixing the clad part has a spring 11 so that predetermined tensile force may be provided to the optical fiber by repelling in the direction deflected to the blade. In addition, a plunger 13 and an inclined face 12 are provided between the clamp base 1 and the blade 6 so that the tensile force of the optical fiber may gradually be increased before cutting after the optical fiber 10 is scarred by sliding the blade 6. A good cut face is obtained by firstly applying predetermined tensile force for scar and then by energizing the tensile force.
