PURPOSE: To obtain good printing grade, scratch resistance, water resistance, light fastness or the like by applying or jetting a soln. containing a polar polymer to a recording medium before recording is performed simultaneously with recording or after recording is performed.
CONSTITUTION: A soln. of a polymer having a polarity opposite to that of the polymer contained in a recording soln. is sprayed on a recording medium before recording is performed and the recording soln. is emitted to the recording medium at the part where the liquid droplets of the polymer soln. is bonded to perform recording. That is, by treating the surface state of paper to bring the same to a constant state, good printed matter not affected by the kind of paper is obtained. As an example of an apparatus, the solution containing the polymer having a polarity opposite to that of the polymer contained in the recording soln. is jetted toward recording paper at first from an auxiliary head 1b and, after the elapse of a definite time, recording ink is jetted from a main head 1a to perform recording. At this time, the impact points of the main head and the auxiliary head are allowed to nearly coincide with each other.
