Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce a metal catalyst carrier with good productivity by interposing carbon or a sheet forming carbon after combustion between a flat plate and a corrugated plate when both plates are superposed and wound and subsequently heat-treating the whole at once. CONSTITUTION:In the metal catalyst carrier of a catalyst converter for purifying exhaust gas of a car, a ferrite stainless steel alloy containing aluminum is rolled and the rolled alloy is molded into a flat plate 10 and a corrugated plate 11. A material containing carbon or a substance becoming carbon by combustion is infiltrated in and laminated to a sheet 12 such as paper or cloth and this sheet 12 is interposed between the flat plate 10 and the corrugated plate 11 when both plates 10, 11 are superposed and wound. Thereafter, the molded body is heat-treated in an oxidative atmosphere. Whereupon, alumina whiskers and an oxide film can be formed by the reducing action of carbon in the sheet and both plates are strongly fixed to prevent film-out.
