Abstract:
PURPOSE:To efficiently recover lead and zinc by mixing the residue obtained by leaching a copper converter dust and eluting soluble salts into a steel dust, charging the mixture into a rotary kiln and reduction-roasting the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A copper converter dust is leached with water or sulfuric acid to elute the soluble salts of copper, cadmium and arsenic. Less than 5wt.% of the elution residue is mixed into a steel dust, and the mixture is charged into a rotary kiln and reduction-roasted at 1050-1150 deg.C. The steel dust contains about 2-10% lead and about 5-30% zinc and consists essentially of iron oxide. The lead and zinc in the elution residue and the lead and zinc in the steel dust are volatilized by the roasting and recovered. The volatilized lead and zinc are collected as crude oxides, halogen elements, etc., are removed by a wet process, and then the oxides are dried and granulated.
