PURPOSE: To obtain the titled dry hydrangea having green color, at a low cost, in a shortened finishing time, without decomposing or degrading the nutrient components, by steaming raw hydrangea, cooling with air flow, rolling roughly in hot air, carrying out the level rolling, and finally drying the rolled product.
CONSTITUTION: Raw hydrangea is cut to about 10cm long, steamed at 90W100°C, and quenched to room temperature or the temperature of the outer atmosphere with a blower. The cooled hydrangea is subjected to the rough rolling under weight in hot air stream of 60W130°C to diffuse the moisture from the inside of the hydrangea to its surface in a short time. The moisture is uniformized by the level rolling process comprising the rolling and kneading under weight without heating. The rolled hydrangea is dried at a hot air temperature of 35W45°C under slightly increased weight, and then subjected to the finish rolling at 40W50°C keeping the hydrangea from growing moldy. Finally, the product is dried at 60W 80°C to obtain dried hydrangea having green color similar to green tea.
