Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for manufactur an aluminum alloy connecting rod advageous in the coincidence of mating surfaces when a connecting rod body and cap separated from each other by a cracking method are reassembled and advantageous in the improvement in the degree of intimate contact of the connecting rod body with a cap.

CONSTITUTION: A connecting rod material is used which has a quick cooling solidified high alloy metal powder sintered to form integrally a connecting rod body 2 and cap 3. A bushing 6 made of an iron sintered body is inserted in a connecting hole 5 of the connecting rod material. The connecting rod material together with the bushing 6 is cut off to be divided into the connecting rod body 2 and cap 3. While the connecting rod body 2 is joined to the cap 3 on the basis of the cut-off surfaces 65h, 66h of the bushing 6, a male screw part 71 of a bolt 7 inserted in a bolt inserting hole 60 in the bushing 6 is screwed in a female screw part of the bushing 6 to provide a connecting rod 8. A head 72 of the bolt 7 is seated on the shaft end face 6x of the bushing 6.
