Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve fuel consumption of an engine, by controlling speed change ratio of a stepless speed changer so that a speed of the engine may always exceed its fuel cut limit speed, when a car is driven under an engine brake condition at a car speed above the predetermined level. CONSTITUTION:A port 31a, which controls a predetermined amount of speed change ratio to be changed in accordance with the action of hydraulic pressure whether it is exerted or not, is provided in a speed change control valve 30. Then the hydraulic pressure, which controls the speed change ratio in such a manner that the speed of an engine exceeds its fuel cut limit speed with a car speed above the fuel cut limit car speed further with a throttle in its full closing condition while the speed of the engine decreases smaller than its fuel cut limit speed with the car speed less than the fuel cut limit car speed further with the throttle in the full closing condition, is supplied to the port 31a. In this way, fuel consumption is improved by enabling the operational range of a fuel cut device to be spread when an engine brake is applied.
