PURPOSE: To increase the degree of freedom in selection of the placing positions for desired material originals and to facilitate operations by providing means for selecting and instructing the reference for placement in the stage of placing originals and means of registering the positions of the original images formed on a carrying body on a transfer material.

CONSTITUTION: Switches 1 for instructing the reference position of an original plate are disposed in respective four corners in the corresponding geometrical positions of a display panel 2 to select desired positons for placing of material originals. When the corresponding switches 1-1W1-4 are depressed, the position is displayed by lighting of push modes LEDs. When the position reference is instructed in this way, an optical scanning system, etc. are controlled cooperatively. The reference position is usually in the position B, and if the original is placed in the position 15-2 with respect to this, the position E can be used as a reference in making operation. Namely, the scanning system, etc. are delayed by as much as the position B is moved to the position E and this is given as a control element for the driving mechanism thereof.
