Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent mis-detection and curtail processing time by obtaining the degree of protrusion through processing for correlation between a partial image pattern and reference pattern with a protrusion detecting means and by obtaining a recognized output of pattern to be recognized from both data described above. CONSTITUTION:The first row of reference pattern is stored in the n-bit shift register 22, the first row of the nXm bits region of the first column is stored in the n-bit shift register 23, a matching bit is obtained by an exclusive OR circuit 24, and a total sum is obtained by an adder 25 An output value of adder 25 is stored, under the control of a memory control circuit 28, to a line memory 29 assigned to the first column through a data register 26. Such value is sequentially read and is loaded in such a way that it is sequentially shifted to the register (e) from the register 1 of a register storage 30, an output value of subtracters 31 and 32 are obtained by an adder 33. The obtained value indicates the degree of protrusion T. The degree of correlation and the degree of protrusion are added by an adder 15 and such peak value is forced.
