PURPOSE: To save manpower to operate and control and to enable saving of labor, by a method wherein, in a gas pipe burying equipment which reciprocates along a gas pipe burying ditch, guide wheels engage the ditch, and the equipment is caused to advance following curve-running of the guide wheels.
CONSTITUTION: A vehicle 2, positioned across a ditch 13 and reciprocating over the ditch 13 wherein a gas pipe is planned to be buried, discharges soil and sand in a tank 3 into the ditch 13 for reburying when it runs forward, and consolidates the soil and sand by a rammer 4 when it runs backward. Guide wheels 25 and 26, which engage the ditch 13 and turn in conformity with a curve, are supported to the vehicle 2. Thus, even if the ditch 13 is curved, the guide wheels 25 and 26 follow the ditch, the movement in an axial direction of the guide wheels 25 and 26 is detected, and this causes the guide wheels to run in conformity with the curve of the ditch 13 through the connection and disconnection of running clutches 31 and 32. Even if the ditch 13 is curved, this causes automatic running of the vehicle along the ditch 13 and permits saving of manpower required for maniplation and control.
