PURPOSE: To make more appropriate color temperature compensations, by using an illuminance value as an element for evaluating and deciding color temperature compensations, when color temperatures detected by plural color detectors are compensated.
CONSTITUTION: Reflecting light from an object and their circumferential light detected by color detectors 31 and 33 are supplied to a color temperature detector 33 after they are converted into electric signals. A color temperature signal from the color temperature detector 33 is supplied to color temerature compensating devices 34 and 35 and gains of variable gain amplifiers 12 and 13 for red and blue signals, respectively, are controlled in accordance with the outputs of the color temperature compensating devices 34 and 35. When illuminance values are detected from plural areas of the object and this illuminance information is used as one of color temperature compensation evaluating and deciding elements at this stage, more appropriate color temperature compensations can be made.
