PURPOSE: To impart not only a carrying function but also chip storing and quantitative supply functions to an apparatus for carrying chips produced in the cutting process by means of a conveyor composed of endless chains with sweeping boards by providing the sweeping boards only in a predetermined section of the endless chains.

CONSTITUTION: A chip carrying apparatus serves to carry chips thrown from a chip inlet port 6 provided at the lower end of a casing 4 to a chip outlet port 7 provided at the upper end by means of a chip carrying conveyor 5; the chips are then supplied from the outlet port 7 to a centrifugal separator or the like. The chip carrying conveyor 5 is composed of a pair of endless chains 5a, 5b trained around a driving sprocket 10 and a driven sprocket 11 and a plurality of sweeping boards 16 extending between the chains 5a, 5b. The sweeping boards 16 are disposed at regular intervals in a section defined by the length from a chip receiving portion 9 to the chip outlet port 7, and cooperate with base plates 17 provided along the lower travelling surface of the sweeping boards 16 to carry the chips.
