Abstract:
A stable compsn. for topical application contains ascorbic acid (AA) and at least one polyol (I). The novel features are that (I) is present in an amt. providing the compsn. with a water activity 0.85 or less (pref. 0.7 or less) and the compsn. contains at least one structuring agent (SA) selected from polymers and oils. Also claimed is the use of (I) (in an amt. as above) and SA for stabilising topical compsns. contg. AA. A cosmetic treatment process involving applying the compsn. to the skin (including the area around the eyes) is further claimed.
