CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive layer contains a triphenylmethane deriv. represented by general formula I . This compd. is obtained by adding a phenyl compd. represented by general formula II in which A, a mean the same groups as those of formula I , to a benzaldehyde compd. represented by a general formula III in which B, b mean the same as those of formula I , in a molar ratio of 4:1W 2:1, using a mineral acid, e.g. hydrochloric acid, or anhydrous zinc chloride, as a catalyst, and further, when needed, using a solvent, such as methanol, ethanol, dioxane, chloroform, or benzene.
