PURPOSE: To make an accurate exposure scanning on an original and to perform excellent copying under sequential control, by inhibiting the original exposure scan in case of various state defects and shifting the forward movement start position of a reciprocating means for the original exposure to a correct position.
CONSTITUTION: Various state defect detection signals from various state sensors such as a jam detector, toner detector, paper remaining amount detector, etc., and the detection signal of a home position detection system which detects the optical system reciprocating means for the original exposure scan not being at the forward movement start position are inputted to a CPU through an I/O. Then, the CPU which counts clock pulses to read programs in an ROM successively and outputs a control signal corresponding to a time elapse outputs a control signal for inhibiting the original exposure scan. Similarly, the optical system reciprocating means is moved to the home position for the start of forward movement by the control signal passed through the CPU. Thus, the accurate original exposure scanning is made to perform the excellent sequence control copying.
