PURPOSE: To prevent a head part from giving the mechanical fatigue to a recording medium by providing a piston member and a cylinder to a head part and connecting these piston member and cylinder with an elastic matter so that the head part is freely expanded and contracted only in the direction vertical to the recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: This magnetic head contains a nonmagnetic cylindrical matter 41 which is welded to the surface opposite to the surface of a head part 30 where a contact is secured with a recording medium, a cylinder 42 which guides reciprocating motions with the matter 41 used as a piston, a cylinder bottom material 43 and a spring 44 which connects the cylinder 42 to the matter 41. As a result, the part 30 is freely expanded and contracted only in the direction vertical to the recording medium. Thus no mechanical fatigue is given to the recording medium by having initialization so that a contact keeps a proper level of pressure between the surface of the recording medium and the part 30.
