PURPOSE: To decrease the camber in cross rolling and thickness reduction rolling by forming a slab to the shape resembling to the shape of the slit bone formed at the cut edge of the slab in a longitudinal cutting stage in a mold for continuous casting.
CONSTITUTION: The bulge E having the section of the shape resembling to the triangular shape F of a cut section and a slit bone D is beforehand formed to a non-cut edge 3a in a stage for molding a continuous casting slab 1 with the casting mold before the stage for cutting longitudinally the slab 1. The slab 3 formed with a cut section F and the bulge E is edged and shaped with vertical rolls 7, 7 with grooves 6, 6. The slab is thereafter subjected to cross rolling with ordinary plural vertical rolls and to thickness reduction rolling with plural horizontal rolls.
