Abstract:
PURPOSE:To quickly recognize a traveling path terminal by providing a means which detects a white line on a traveling path based on luminance information and dispersion information extracted from an input image. CONSTITUTION:An image input part 2 outputs image information to a dispersion calculation part 3 and a luminance calculation part 4 simultaneously, and the calculation part 3 calculates the dispersion coefficient of a travel road based on inputted image information, and the calculation part 4 calculates the luminance of the traveling road from the image information. Calculation processing at those calculation parts 3, 4 are executed simultaneously, and calculated results are sent to a white line detecting part 5 as the dispersion information and the luminance information, respectively. Also, the detecting part 5 extracts a white line area on the travel road based on inputted dispersion information and luminance information. A main control part 6 recognizes traveling path structure required for the travel of a vehicle based on a detected white line area. Thereby, it is possible to recognize the traveling path terminal at high speed without being affected by the shadow and the reflection of the traveling road.
