PURPOSE: To reduce the time for rough machining by means of a milling machine and improve efficiency by repeting a cycle in which after carrying out the positioning in the X, Y directions of a workpiece in accordance with tool moving coordinate data, machining the hole of said workpiece by making a took cut in the Z direction.
CONSTITUTION: When a stylus 4 is brought in contact with a model 3, displacement data are transmitted to an operation control part 11c, which, in turn, obtains the quantity of movement per unit time of each shaft and outputs a speed control command V. Then, a speed control part 11d drives each shaft motor 6a to 8a based on the command V, making the stylus 4 move along the surface of the model 3. At the same time, various data from the control part 11c are inputted in a processor 11a, and position data for each point are extracted from intervals which are previously inputted there, NC command data (tool coordinate data) are prepared, and the processor 11a interprets these data and send them out to a speed control part 11f, to drive the motors 8a to 10a, carrying out the machining of holes on a workpiece 1 through a tool 5 in a short time.
