Abstract:
A water-soluble pentacyclic triterpene composition comprising a clathrate formed between a pentacyclic triterpene compound of the amyrin family, such as oleanolic acid, ursolic acid or hederagenin, and a cyclodextrin. The water-insoluble triterpene compounds are solubilized by clathration while retaining various pharmacological functions thereof. The composition manifests the effect of caries inhibition or the like when added to food, drink, dentifrice, gargle, chewing gum, and so forth.
