PURPOSE: To prevent the sticking of a flying head by forming an amorphous magnetic layer having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane and a surface protective layer consisting of a UV curing resin on a substrate and providing many crazes on the substrate and providing many crazes on the surface of the protective layer.

CONSTITUTION: The surface protective layer 14 consists of the UV curing resin and the surface of the protective layer 14 is provided with the many crazes. Namely, the amorphous magnetic layer 6 having the axis of easy magnetization in the direction perpendicular to the film plane is formed on the substrate and the UV curing resin added with a solvent is applied on this amorphous magnetic layer 6 and is cured by irradiation with UV rays after drying, by which the surface protective layer 14 having the many crazes on the surface is formed. The crazes are formed on the surface of the layer 14 in this case and, therefore, the need for deepening pregrooves or thinning the surface protective layer 14 is eliminated in this way. The sticking of the flying head is prevented without impairing the protective effect of the protective layer 14 and without impairing the tracking performance and C/N.
