Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an adsorbent of N2 wherein the amount of N2 to be adsorbed is increased under adsorption conditions at low temp. and low pressure and a conventional adsorption velocity of N2 is kept and the decrement in selectivity of said adsorption is low, by exchanging the specified amount of Na ion of Na faujasite for Ca ion and thereafter heat-treating the ion-exchanged material.

CONSTITUTION: After at least 30W100% Na ion of Na faujasite represented as Na-X, Na-Y is ion-exchanged for Ca ion, the ion-exchanged material is heat-treated in the condition of ≥450°C to produce an adsorbent of N2 for low temp. In the adsorption towers 8, 8' of at least two towers wherein these adsorbents 9, 9' are packed, air is sent and pressure into the first adsorption tower 8 so that the inside of the tower 8 is regulated to the pressure of 1W3 atmospheric pressure, therefore N2 is adsorbed selectively and high pure O2 or O2-enriched air is discharged from said tower 8. On the other hand, the second adsorption tower 8' is reduced to the pressure of 0.5W0.8 atmospheric pressure, therefore the adsorbed N2 is discharged to regenerate said adsorbent and these all processes are performed under cooling conditions below room temp. As a result of this process, high pure O2 exceeding 99% is obtained easily with less power consumption.
