Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the titled highly dielectric compound excellent in adhesiveness, by dihydroxyalkylating a water-soluble natural polysaccharide (derivative) and then cyanoethylating the product.

CONSTITUTION: A dihydroxylated polysaccharide is obtained by reacting a natural polysaccharide or its derivative other than pullulan (e.g., saccharose) with dihydroxyalkylating agents of formulas I and/or II (wherein R1 and R2 are each H or methyl, and X is a halogen) at 10W120°C in the presence of an acid or alkali catalyst in water or an inert solvent. After adding acrylonitrile in an amount at least 1.0 molar time that of the OH groups of the polysaccharide, the mixture is reacted at below 200°C in the presence of an alkali catalyst to obtain a cyanoalkylated product.

USE: Binder for electroluminescent panels, film, sheet, coating film, plasticizer, etc.
