Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a remedy for hepatic diseases, containing 11-deoxo-glycyrrhetinic acid hydrogen malate or its salt as an active component, having high safety and excellent effect, administrable for a long period and free from the side effects of glycyrrhetinic acid.

CONSTITUTION: A remedy for hepatic diseases can be obtained by using 11- deoxo-glycyrrhetinic acid hydrogen malate of formula or its salt as an active component. The compound of formula is known as a remedy for ulcer and an anti-inflammatory agent, and it has been found that the compound has excellent effect to hepatic diseases. Although glycyrrhetinic acid is liable to cause side effects such as edema, hypokalemia, hypertension, etc., the compound of formula is free of the side effects and can be administered safely for a long period. Dose of the compound of formula is 1W50mg daily for injection and 10W500mg daily for oral administration.
