PURPOSE: To decrease wear of the fluororesin layer of a roller and to provide excellent separability of recording paper by using an elastic material in forming a separating pawl for separating the recording paper from the roller by contacting with the roller.

CONSTITUTION: A fixing roller 1 of a roller fixing device consists of the constitution in which a heater 1a of a halogen lamp is incorporated into a metallic roller core 1b and a coating layer 1c consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene is provided on the surface of the core 1b and the other fixing roller 2 consists of the constitution in which an elastic layer 2b consisting of silicon rubber is provided on a metallic roller core 2a and a surface layer 2c consisting of fluororubber or fluororesin or a mixture composed thereof is provided thereon. A separating pawl 3 is formed of an elastic rubber material such as silicone rubber or fluororubber into a block shape and is used for the roller 2. Since the pawl 3 is formed of the elastic material such as fluororubber or silicon rubber in the above-mentioned way, the wear of the surface layer 2c consisting of fluororubber or fluroresin of the roller 2 is prevented and the sepn. of recording paper P is stably and effectively accomplished.
