PURPOSE: To stop the movement of a card within a card readers just with a single pair of drive pulleys without using a mechanical brake means, by using a timer circuit of a monostable multivibrator, etc. to apply the electrical reverse braking to the card for a fixed period of time to stop the card quickly.
CONSTITUTION: When a card 5 is put into a card reader, the light is cut from a light emitting diode 2 to a photodetector 1. Therefore the output level of the detector 1 is reduced and then amplified by an amplifier 9 to be transmitted to the inputs of AND circuits 21 and 22 via an OR circuit 20. When the card 5 reaches its terminal position, the light of a light emitting diode 8 is cut by a card 4 to a photodetector 7. Then a monostable multivibrator 15 is started, and the circuit 22 is actuated via an OR circuit 19. Then a reverse circuit of a motor drive circuit 23 is actuated to apply the reverse drive power to the motor 6. The motor 6 receives the backward revolving power by two rotations from the forward revolving power and therefore receives the sudden braking power.
