Title:
CATALYST FOR PREPARING HYDROGEN RICH GAS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS60110337
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To develop a catalyst showing high activity and excellent corrosion resistance in preparing hydrogen rich gas through the reaction of methanol and water, by calcining a molded body comprising a mixture based on Zn and containing a specific amount of Cu and TiO2.

CONSTITUTION: As a catalyst having high activity, high selectivity, excellent corrosion resistance and long use life used in reaction for preparing hydrogen rich gas by reacting a mixture of methanol and water, a Zn-Cu-TiO2 type baked product is used. 2.75g of TiO2 is added to 50ml of water and 87g of cupric nitrate trihydrate and 53.6g of zinc nitrate hexahydrate are further added thereto while water is added to the resulting solution so as to bring the total amount to 300ml. This aqueous solution is heated to 85°C and an 1mol sodium carbonate solution is gradually added thereto while the obtained slurry is filtered and washed and the residue is dried at 110°C and calcined at 280°C. By this method, a catalyst containing Zn<90%, Cu>5% and 1W20% TiO2 as Ti is obtained.
