Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a 2-oxycephalosporin deriv. in high yields with extremely simple operations by electrolytically oxidizing a cephalosporin deriv. CONSTITUTION:The cerphalosporin deriv. expressed by the formulaI(e.g.; 7- phenoxyacetamide acetoxycephalosporic methyl ester) is electrolytically oxidized in the presence of generally a proton donative solvent (e.g.; acetic acid), more preferably a supporting electrolyte such as potassium acetate. Here, it is preferable to use the proton donative solvent 5-100 times the content of the cephalosporin deriv. A platinum or carbon electrode is preferable for the electrode, and the electrolysis may be effected under conditions of either constant potential or constant voltage. As a result of the electrolytic oxidation, the 2-oxycephalosporin deriv. expressed by the formula II[(e.g.;6R, 7S)-2-acetoxy-7-phenoxyacetamide acetoxycephalosporic methyl ester]is obtained. The compd. is important as a synthetic intermediate for cephalosporin type antibiotics, etc.
