PURPOSE: To prevent color stain without reducing the potographic sensitivity by incorporating a specified compound into an intermediate layer and/or an emulsion layer as a color stain inhibitor.

CONSTITUTION: An intermediate layer and/or an emulsion layer contg. a compound represented by formula I or II as a color stain inhibitor is formed on a support. The preferred amount of the compound contained in the intermediate layer is 1.0×10-3W1.0×10-5mol/m2, and that of the compound contained in the emulsion layer is 1.0×10-4W1.0×10-6mol/m2. In the formulae, each of A and B is -CO- or -SO2-; R1 is H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, arylsulfonamido or the like; each of R2 and R3 is aryl, alkyl, amino or the like; each of R4 and R5 is a bivalent group required to combine phenol rings or naphthol rings; R4 may bond to B to form a disulfonyl residue or a dicarbonyl residue; R5 may be alkylene or a dioxy residue; and each ring having substituted OH may form a naphthol ring together with a group of atoms Q.
