PURPOSE: To adjust a reflection factor simply, easily and precisely by evaporating an electrochromic substance in vacuum while applying a negative voltage to a transparent electrode film to form a colored layer, and forming a light reflecting film on the colored layer.
CONSTITUTION: The colored layer 3 is formed by evaporating the electrochromic substance in vacuum while applying a negative voltage to the transparent electrode film 2. Therefore, said colored layer 3 is colored blue under reduced status and the light reflecting film 4 is formed on the colored layer 3 by the vacuum evaporation. When light shown by the arrow A is made incident upon a transparent substrate 1, the light is reflected by the reflecting film 4 through the transparent electrode film 2 and the colored layer 3, so that the optical system is functioned as a mirror. The reflection factor is adjusted by adjusting the density of the colored layer 3, so that the adjustment can be attained extremely simply and precisely.
