PURPOSE: To obtain an inexpensive optical isolator which concludes reflected light by forming optical paths between m(m≥2) units of light input terminals and n(n≥2) units of light output terminals, and using only one of those input terminals for light incidence.
CONSTITUTION: Four total reflection mirrors 5 and ten half-mirrors 6 are arranged in a matrix, and five input terminals A, five output terminals B, and optical paths between them are constituted. Incident light L from one of the input terminals A is reflected by and transmitted through the mirrors 5 and 6 repeatedly as shown by the solid lines, and then outputted from the five light output terminals B eventually. Reflected light inputted to the light output terminals B, on the other hand, is reflected by and transmitted through the mirrors 5 and 6 repeatedly as shown by the dotted lines and then outputted from the five light input terminals A. In this case, the reflected light of the light L from the input terminals is about one-fifth.
