PURPOSE: To obtain effective power corresponding to the level thereof applied in normal operation by use of alternate fuel even if supply of gas for a blast furnace is interrupted, by changing over an intake pipe passage to use the blast furnace gas compressor of a blast furnace gas burning gas turbine power system, as an air compressor.
CONSTITUTION: When gas is interrupted to be supplied to a blast furnace, a plant is halted and the gas in a gas pipe passage of the blast furnace is purged. Using air which is taken in from an air intake opening 15, supplementary fuel is burnt to operate a blast furnace gas compressor 6. At the time of the operation, a blast furnace gas supply cut-off valve 12 is closed, a fuel gas flow adjusting valve 8 is opened, a blast furnace gas circulation cut-off valve 13 is closed and an atmosphere open valve 14 is closed. Since a means for closing by one touch is provided for the air intake opening 15, the action for taking-in of air may be quickly performed. Even if blast furnace gas of main fuel is not supplied, the blast furnace gas compressor is used as an air compressor and it may generate the effective power substantially equivalent to the power generated when blast furnace gas is burnt, using the supplementary fuel additionally provided in the system.
