PURPOSE: To reduce the amount of consumed wax, reduce the possibility of carrying in a useless wax and smooth the yarn ending operation, by waxing a yarn intermittently in a fine spinning machine.
CONSTITUTION: A yarn 2 spun continuously from a spinning unit 1 of a fine spinning machine is intermittently brought into contact with a wax 9 and waxed. For example, the wax 9 in contact with a guide tray 10 having a tilted surface 10' is rotatably mounted on a shaft 11 to guide the yarn 2 along the tilted surface 10' of the guide tray 10 only when the yarn 2 is deflected to the right by winding traverse, and the yarn 2 is brought into contact with the surface of the wax 9 and wound into a package 8 without waxing in the region on the outside of the wax 9. Thus, the yarn 2 is intermittently waxed regularly with one period per traverse in the long direction thereof.
