PURPOSE: To aim at facilitating connection of lead wires as well as miniaturizing form, by arranging plural inner tubes regulating a discharge passage in an outer tube inside, while turnign a stem base surface to a flat platelike state upon planting in-and-out lead wires into the stem whose bottom is closed up.
CONSTITUTION: Setting a phosphor layer 3 on the inner surface, each electrode 4 is set sealed on one end of the bottom and four inner tubes 2 having the other end opened are arranged the way being bundled in an outer tube 1 inside to regulate a discharge passage A, while the bottom of the outer tube 1 closed up by a flat platelike stem 5 which sets eight out-lead wires 8 at positions corresponding to those of in-lead wires 9 and a compacted discharge lamp is made up in this way. Therefore, connection of lead wires 8 and 9 can be easily done without complex bending processes while seal-setting between the stem 5 and the outer tube 1 bottom can be done likewise at the same level as the base surface 14 so that the overall height is sharply shortened and miniaturization may be much promoted.
