PURPOSE: The titled drug having physiological activity to inhibit selectively only 5-lipoxygenase activity, containing caffeic acid methyl ester as an active ingredient.
CONSTITUTION: An antiallergic drug such as a remedy for severe asthma, anti-inflammatory drug, adjuvant, etc., containing caffeic acid methyl ester shown by the formula (phycial and chemical properties are shown in the table) as an active ingredient. It has dosage froms such as injection, water-soluble drug for drip, oil, etc., and capsule, tablet, granule, fine granule, powder, aerosol, etc. for oral administration. A daily dose is 0.005W100mg/kg, preferably 0.2W50mg/kg, further preferably 0.5W10mg/kg in the case of oral administration, and 0.002W 200mg/kg, preferably 0.02W100mg/kg, further preferably 0.2W20mg/kg in the case of parenteral administration.
