PURPOSE: To prepare the titled adhesive having long tack life and excellent bonding workability, and suitable for the bonding of thin polyolefin sheets, by dissolving a thermoplastic elastomer and a tackifier in an organic solvent, adding a surface active agent to the solution, and dispersing the mixture in water.
CONSTITUTION: The objective adhesive can be prepared by dissolving (A) a thermoplastic elastomer having styrene content of 10W50pts. and an elongation of 500W1,500%, e.g. styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer and (B) a tackifier such as petroleum resin in (C) an organic solvent such as toluene, adding (D) a surface active agent such as a nonionic agent to the solution, and dispersing and emulsifying the mixture in water. The amount of the component (B) is preferably 30W150pts. per 100pts. of the component (A) in terms of the weight of the solid content.
EFFECT: The problems of toxicity and fire hazard caused by organic solvent can be reduced. Since the adhesive has low visocisity and high solid content, a thick effective adhesive layer after drying and solidification can be attained at an ordinary amount of application.
